A couple of weeks after the attack I made my way down to Ground Zero. There was a pungent smell in the air down there that lasted for months. This is a picture of St. Paul's Church, where rescue workers would rest. What's missing from this picture are the Twin Towers, which would normally drawf the church and fill the space where you now see just sky.
